Fort Rowdy Gathering Encampment

Information and Rules

 

We are excited that you have chosen to spend this weekend with us. There are a variety of activities planned for your enjoyment and participation. We hope you take time to read the camp rules and look at the schedule of events.

 

Upon arrival, register with the Scribe (if unavailable sign in with Head Dog soldier) and pick up your camp packet before setting up. Packet contents include parking pass, one Medallion, paid camp ribbon, rules and schedule of events.

 

Please display your paid camp ribbon in a visible place so that the Dog soldiers will easily recognize your paid status.

 

All campsites are available on a first come – first served basis. Spaces cannot be saved.

 

Parking  Please display parking pass readily visible in the front windshield at all times. All trailers must be at the back end of parking area.  Please park in front of your trailer to maximize the area we have available. This parking area is generously given to us to use for the weekend by the landowner. Be considerate, especially if it should rain, limit your driving in and out. Please do not leave any trash in parking area.

 

All camps must maintain a pre-1840’s time period (clothing, lodges, and accoutrements). Please stay in primitive dress for duration of the event, and get dressed as soon possible for security reasons. All modern items must be kept out of sight at all times. Breechcloths may be worn in the encampment only. When outside the encampment leggings must be worn.

 

This is a family camp and any extremes in language, public belligerence, or altercations, may result in a request for your departure from camp. Use common sense and allow you conscience to guide your behavior.

Conduct and safety of young people is the responsibility of their parents or guardians. An adult must accompany children when at the hawk and knife, flint and steel, spear throw, and archery areas.

Campers are responsible for all visitors at their campsite. Civilian guests must be escorted through camp by host.

Quiet time in main camp is 12 A.M.

 

Dog soldiers will be available to answer any questions concerning the rules, or see the Boosway or Aide de camp for further information or clarification. Please bring any problems to our attention immediately, (Head Dog Soldier / Segundo / Booshway) we want to know and remedy the situation promptly.

 

Please let the appropriate staff members know of any medical conditions you may have and where any important medications are kept in case of emergency.

 

The camp fee includes the use of one 4-point trade blanket. Regulations apply to trade blanket items. (No plastic or modern items.) Dog soldiers may inspect the items for sale. They will let you know if any items are not acceptable and need to be put away.

Encampment participants will sell No Food or Beverages.

 

Traders are responsible for all applicable licenses, permits and any taxes.

 

Lost and found is located at the Booshway tent.

 

 

 

 

Firewood & Fires – Please do not hoard wood. Wood is available; woodpiles will be in several areas of camp. No cutting of live trees or brush. Fires must be contained in a pit and must be attended at all times. A minimum of two gallons of water in an open container must be kept within five feet of the pit, and be specifically for fire control. Please fill and level your fire pit before leaving. Do Not bury any partially burned wood or trash. Return unused wood to nearest wood pile.

 

Water is available in the supply tank. Please remember to use a primitive container when hauling the water. Do not allow children to play at water tank.

 

Animals will be allowed. They must be properly restrained and under control at all times. You are responsible for the conduct of you animals. If you have any doubts please do not bring them.

 

No loaded firearms or the discharging of firearms allowed in camp.

No Portable Generators are allowed.

 

Please place trash in plastic bags and dispose of them in receptacle provided by the Gathering committee.

 

All competitions are open to registered campers only. Any decision by Range officers regarding any aspect of the range including scoring, conduct and safety is final.

Competitions at the hawk range include the throwing of both the hawk and knife for men and women, and the use of the hawk only for junior division (under 16).

Footwear must be worn on the Hawk & Knife Range at all times.

All archery equipment should be primitive in materials and construction.

No children under 16 years of age are allowed at the practice area without adult supervision.

 

Camp cooking contest will be Saturday 5P.M.- 6P.M.  Categories: Main dish /Breads or Desserts. Just need to bring a sample and sign in.

 

Daily prizes will be awarded during the camp meetings on Saturday and Sunday at encampment stage.

 

Every year there is a fund raising auction for the Fort Rowdy Gathering. It will be held at the encampment stage Saturday. An authorized Gathering representative will be around requesting donations for this auction.

 

Extra medallions will be priced at $5.00 and will be available on Saturday afternoon at the scribe camp.

 

No vehicles allowed in encampment area during public hours, except for emergencies – please clear with the Booshway or Head Dog soldier.

 

No tearing down camp before 6P.M. Sunday.
